A man who allegedly returned to Nigeria to marry a younger woman “without informing his wife or children” has been accused of “bigamy” after allegedly continuing to be married to a Nigerian lady who gave birth to his four children.

Goodluck Ikechukwu Nshi, a nurse from Nkalaha in Ishielu LGA, Ebonyi State, and his wife reside in the United States. Together, they are parents to four kids.

Their marriage, however, reportedly fell apart because of “the husband’s repeated neglect, infidelity, and general disregard for his family,” a source told LIB.

Because of this, the wife filed for divorce in the United States in February 2025, although they still live together as an estranged couple.

According to the source, Mr. Nshi then filed for divorce in Nigeria and allegedly kept it a secret from both his wife and the US court after failing to persuade her to withdraw the divorce case from the US court.

He filed for divorce in Nigeria “in an effort to sidestep his financial and parental responsibilities,” according to the source.

Mr. Nshi reportedly testified in court on June 13, 2025, when the divorce matter was brought up, and on June 14, he married a young woman after returning to Nigeria in June.

According to the source, he met his “mistress” when he came to Nigeria in 2022 “under the pretense of attending a professional conference” and she ended up becoming his wife.

Mr. Nshi is said to have later gone back to the United States to be with his family.

According to reports, the wife and kids in the US were unaware of the wedding until she began getting calls from Nigeria following the nuptials.

According to the source, Mr. Nshi’s actions constitute to bigamy because he still has a wife and kids living abroad.

According to the source, the husband has “continued to lie to others, claiming that his wife had abandoned him and taken the children, thus continuing the deception that has defined much of his behavior throughout the breakdown of the marriage.”
