Argentina captain Lionel Messi has admitted that he remains uncertain about whether he will feature for his country at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The 39-year-old, however, stated that his immediate attention remains on the ongoing 2026 World Cup competition.
The Inter Miami star has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Argentina at the tournament.
Messi has scored five goals in two matches for the Albiceleste, netting a hat-trick against Algeria before adding two goals in the victory over Austria.
Speaking on the possibility of participating in the 2030 World Cup, Messi said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano: “I don’t know.
“The truth is, I am not thinking about that right now.
“It seems a bit far off… but, as I said, I am living one day at a time and focused on the present.”
The Argentine captain’s comments come amid growing speculation over his international future, with many supporters eager to know whether he will extend his career long enough to feature at another World Cup.
