The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions Chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, has made public his intention to leave the Labour Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the LP-elected senator from Edo South will formally announce his defection to the public.

Imasuen revealed this in Benin on Sunday, the anniversary of his second year as a senator, stating that he switched to the APC due to the disarray in the LP.

In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, he explained that his defection is a calculated step that will better match Edo South with federal development priorities.

Imasuen listed his accomplishments, which included the Abudu Bill, the Federal College of Education, and the settlement of more than 20 public petitions.

Additionally, he emphasized the senatorial district’s agricultural support programs, traditional birth attendant training programs, vocational training programs, and student scholarships.

“As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions, we have resolved over 20 public petitions from across the country.

“These interventions have made a significant difference in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“We’ve focused on rubber, cocoa, and cashew farming. There are testimonies from farmers whose yields have improved significantly,” he said.

The senator from Edo South emphasized the need for more collaboration amongst local governments while expressing his unwavering support for President Tinubu’s initiatives.

He committed to continuing to prioritize rural development, youth empowerment, and health.
