Gusau police officers and Zamfara State Hisbah Commission agents have battled over the alleged taking of women to hotels.
Speaking through his Director of Operations, Lawal Abubakar Maradun, Sheikh Umar Hassan Gusau, the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Hisbah Commission, told reporters in Gusau that the police had been repeatedly told to stop doing such things, but they continue.
He claims that Hisbah operatives have no constitutional right to question the police officers’ constant claims that they are security officers.
He stated, “Our men on Monday caught some of them and confronted them which resulted in the clash which took us to the State Police headquarters.”
