NNPCL, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has declared an additional completion date for Oilserv Limited’s Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline project, estimated to cost $2.8 billion.

Recall that the project would be available for commissioning in December 2023, according to Oritsemiyiwa Eyesan, executive vice president of Upstream, NNPC, in November 2023.

However, the project will now be completed in December 2024, according to Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).

Kyari disclosed this information during his address at the 2024 SPE Oloibiri Lecture Series & Energy Forum, OLEF, hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers in Abuja.

“We are committed to developing gas infrastructure across the country. We are dedicated to investing in critical infrastructure to enhance economic prosperity by supplying gas to the domestic market, targeting at least 8 billion cubic meters,” he said.

Recall that the AKK 614 km gas pipeline project was inaugurated in July 2020.

The completion of the project is anticipated to facilitate the transportation of natural gas from Ajaokuta, Kogi State, to Kano, traversing multiple states.
