Adamawa State is in grief following the death of renowned cybersecurity expert and university lecturer, Professor Muazu Hammandikko Gaya.
Recognized as a leading figure in the fields of cybersecurity, programming, and operational research, Professor Gaya’s passing has left a significant void at Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, where he served as a faculty member.
Originally from Gaya, a community in Hong Local Government Area of the state, the professor passed away at his private residence located close to the university’s main campus in Girei, approximately 22 kilometers from Yola, the state capital.
News of his death was confirmed by multiple sources, including colleagues and relatives such as Usman Aliyu and Abdulmajid Gaya.
“With deep heart and sorrow I lost my prominent uncle in person of Professor Hammandikko Muazu Gaya. Ya Allah accept his short comings and grant him Aljannah firdausi Amen ya rabbi,” Abdulmajid Gaya said.
A family friend, Yusuf Alkali, remarked, “Professor Hamandikko Gaya Mu’azu of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Modibbo Adama University Yola, is no more. A great scholar has left us, and the world of knowledge has lost a giant. May we all find solace in the memories of his contributions and legacy.”
Another admirer of the deceased, El Mu’azz Maiha, lamented, “Gaya was one of our finest minds: a distinguished scholar, mentor, and pillar in the field of mathematical modeling. His passing is a profound loss to the academic world and to all who had the honor of learning from him, working alongside him, or simply knowing him.
“Professor Hammandikko was a man of intellect, integrity, and immense humility. He devoted his life to the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge, always pushing boundaries in research while nurturing the next generation with patience and purpose.”
