A horrifying occurrence in the early hours of the morning left residents of Ikotun, Lagos, in disbelief. According to reports, a 23-year-old male broke into the house of a 47-year-old woman and violently raped her in her own bedroom.

The woman was asleep when the suspect allegedly broke into her flat at around three in the morning and then attacked her, according to police records. A worried neighbor hurried over as she shouted for assistance, but the situation only worsened.

The defendant is accused of attacking the neighbor with a sharp weapon in an attempt to flee, causing him to bleed from the forehead.

Luckily, the offender was apprehended immediately by a local police patrol unit. In order to receive medical care, the victim and the hurt neighbor were promptly transported to the hospital.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the arrest and said that inquiries are still on. He also commended the prompt action taken by the community to stop the culprit from getting away.

Residents are now calling for improved security measures in the region as a result of this terrifying episode, which has incited their wrath and anxiety. It serves as a reminder of the continued vulnerability of some societal members, particularly women who live alone.

The public has been reassured by police that justice will be done and that more information will be released as the case develops.
