Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, asserted on Friday that Sim Fubara, the governor of Rivers State who was reinstated, is still eligible to serve a second term.

This follows rumors that the governor’s crisis with his predecessor may prevent him from running for a second term in office.

Some further assert that he agreed to forgo a second term in government as part of the deal to regain power.

Primate Ayodele disclosed, however, that if Fubara seeks God’s will and remains faithful to Wike, he can still serve a second term.

Primate Ayodele stated in a statement signed by his media assistant, Osho Oluwatosin, that since his selected deputy would serve as a figurehead, he would formally relinquish the role of deputy governor to the assembly speaker as part of his allegiance to Wike.

He said: “Fubara can still get a second term if he seeks the face of God and is obedient to his principal, Nyesom Wike. He should also note that his acting deputy governor would be the speaker of the state, his chosen deputy would be more of a figurehead.”

The state won’t be completely tranquil, he added, and some of Fubara’s supporters will start a problem because they will be upset with him.

“Rivers state won’t be fully peaceful because of the indecision of Fubara; he won’t be taken seriously anymore, and some of his allies will be angry with him.

“Fubara and Wike will still fight; it’s not yet over, and the governor will be used to check Wike politically.”

According to Primate Ayodele, the feud between Wike and Fubara is still ongoing because the latter would be utilized to hold the FCT minister accountable.

He also praised the president for averting disaster for the state.

“Tinubu saved River State from calamity and bloodbath because without it, the state would have been forgotten. Several things would have happened in the state, but the state of emergency cautioned everyone,” he added.
