Nigeria’s Super Falcons have fallen seven places in the latest FIFA women’s world rankings released on Tuesday, ZINGTIE reports.

The 10-time African champions, who previously occupied 36th position globally, have now dropped to 43rd place.

Despite their decline in the global standings, the Super Falcons have retained their position as Africa’s highest-ranked women’s national team.

South Africa, Morocco, Ghana and Zambia follow Nigeria in second, third, fourth and fifth positions on the continent, respectively.

The Nigerian team’s drop in the world rankings is linked to their disappointing performance at the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The West Africans crashed out in the quarter-finals after suffering defeats against Malawi and Cameroon.

Nigeria also recorded a 2-1 loss to South Africa in the playoffs for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

However, Augustine Eguavoen’s side secured two victories over Comoros in the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games.

At the global level, the top five positions remain unchanged, with Spain retaining first place ahead of the United States, Germany, England and Japan.

FIFA has scheduled the release of its next women’s world rankings for Monday, December 7, 2026.
