Israeli President Isaac Herzog has emphasized that Israel does not dictate to the President of the United States, amidst ongoing airstrikes by the US and Israel and counterattacks by Iran.

In an interview with CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil on Wednesday, Herzog also stated that Israel did not drag America into war.

The Israeli leader responded to inquiries about whether it was President Trump or Israeli leaders who ultimately made the decision to attack Iran.

Herzog said, “Israel does not dictate to President Trump anything, and Israel does not drag America into a war, God forbid.

“This decision of his [Trump] is out of clear considerations and professional decision-making process,” Herzog said, adding that Israel was “a factor because Israel is an ally”.

Remember that the US military operation in Iran, called Operation Epic Fury, began last Saturday after weeks of threats from Trump, who sought regime change in Tehran and demanded an end to the country’s nuclear program.

As a counter, Iran initiated an offensive aimed at Israel and various adjacent Gulf countries.

Trump suggested on Monday that the military operation in Iran might last more than a month.
