Chike, a well-known Nigerian musician, has disclosed the marriage advice his mother offered him. He shared that she advised him not to marry anyone who does not add value to his life, irrespective of love.
In a recent interview with the Ada’s Room podcast, Chike revealed that his mother had advised him to avoid marrying someone from a poor family or settling down with an unemployed woman.
The 33-year-old clarified that, in his mother’s view, it is a financial burden to marry someone from a poor family or to marry a woman whose family members rely on others for financial support.
“I think everybody should look for a partner that has value. Personally, my mum advised me never to settle down with a woman who doesn’t have a source of livelihood regardless of love,” he said.
The singer added, “She also told me never to marry someone with the baggage of family responsibilities, especially a firstborn that is not productive.”
Chike mentioned that he frequently questions women to determine if they come from well-off families and are industrious before suggesting a relationship.
He advised men to look beyond sexual aspects and take other factors into consideration before starting relationships, particularly those that could lead to marriage.
