Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully thwarted an attack by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP militants on Benisheikh in Borno State, preventing an attempted takeover of the town.

The update was shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on his X handle.

According to security sources, the incident took place at around 11:15 p.m. on April 14, 2026.

The sources revealed that troops from the Headquarters 29 Task Force Brigade were ambushed but managed to repel the attackers, forcing them to retreat.

Although no soldiers were reported killed in the clash, three personnel sustained injuries during the firefight.

The injured soldiers were promptly evacuated to the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital for treatment.

The military stated that the number of casualties among the attackers could not be immediately verified, adding that follow-up operations were underway to track the fleeing militants and assess the damage.

Sources further mentioned that while the overall security situation in the area remains calm, it remains unpredictable.
