National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, has urged prominent members of the party to take responsibility for the actions of their followers and ensure discipline within the ranks.
Dickson made the appeal on Thursday while addressing party stakeholders during a meeting held in Abuja.
The former Bayelsa State governor was reacting to recent attacks and criticisms directed at the party and some of its leaders.
He stressed that the NDC leadership would not stand by and watch individuals engage in actions capable of damaging the reputation of party members.
According to him, every leader within the party has a duty to caution their supporters and discourage unnecessary confrontations that could create divisions within the organization.
Dickson maintained that the party leadership has continued to make sacrifices and create opportunities for members, stressing that such efforts should not be repaid with hostility or actions that undermine unity.
He warned that the NDC would not permit campaigns of character assassination against any member, regardless of political differences or disagreements.
The party leader further emphasized the need for mutual respect among members, noting that internal disputes should be handled through established party mechanisms rather than through public attacks.
“We’ve done everything for you. Call your supporters to order.
“We will not allow anyone to destroy anybody’s image in this party,” he said.
Dickson urged all stakeholders to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions and work together to strengthen the NDC ahead of future political engagements.
