Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a stern warning regarding the future of the Strait of Hormuz, insisting that Tehran’s influence over the strategic waterway remains firmly intact.
Speaking during an interview on state television, Araghchi stated that developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz have fundamentally changed and would not revert to the situation that existed before the recent conflict.
“Our sword will always hang over the Strait of Hormuz,” Araghchi said.
The Iranian foreign minister maintained that Iran, alongside Oman, holds sovereignty over the vital maritime passage and reiterated Tehran’s commitment to ensuring the safe movement of vessels through the route.
He further disclosed that discussions concerning Iran’s nuclear programme had been deferred until the final phase of negotiations due to a number of factors.
“It commits itself not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs, and asks us to commit ourselves not to interfere in its internal affairs. This is entirely on the basis of equality,” he stated.
Araghchi stressed that mutual respect and non-interference remain central principles guiding the understanding reached between the parties involved.
