Terem Moffi expressed his disappointment at not being included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, according to OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli.

Moffi was not included in the 25-man roster that head coach Jose Peseiro announced last week.

Peseiro chose to include four strikers in his squad for the tournament: Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Umar Sadiq.

Moffi was upset at his exclusion, according to Farioli, but he is now focused on playing for the team.

The manager went on to express his happiness that the forward will remain with the team.

“I have two different feelings (on the absence of Moffi at the Africa Cup of Nations). On the one hand, regret because Terem Moffi cared a lot to represent his country, his family and his friends,” Farioli told reporters.

“But on the other hand, he is our best recruit of January and we are happy that he is with us.

“He trained with a very positive mindset with the desire to do well and put himself at the disposal of the team. We see him very focused and very determined.”
