A former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, has cautioned members of the Obidient Movement against assuming that the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is certain to finish second in the 2027 presidential election.
Ahmad argued that only delusional members of the Obidient Movement would expect Obi to secure second place in the 2027 presidential contest.
In a post on X, the former media aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari said some supporters of the Movement lacked a proper understanding of the realities of politics.
He wrote: “Any Obidient who genuinely believes that Mr. Peter Obi is guaranteed to finish second is simply being delusional and, frankly, does not understand the current political dynamics.
“Sentiment and online enthusiasm are not substitutes for a serious assessment of the numbers, structures, regional calculations and electoral realities.”
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, placed third in the 2023 presidential election.
He came behind Atiku Abubakar, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who emerged victorious.
