Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to miss a number of matches after suffering an injury during Galatasaray’s recent league victory.

The Nigerian forward is expected to be sidelined for three games following an adductor muscle strain picked up during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir on Friday evening.

Osimhen suffered the setback in the first half of the encounter shortly after putting Galatasaray ahead with the opening goal.

The Nigeria international was forced off in the 33rd minute, with Turkish winger Barış Alper Yılmaz coming on as his replacement.

A subsequent medical examination confirmed that the striker had sustained a groin injury.

According to Turkish outlet Le Marca Sports, Osimhen is expected to miss Galatasaray’s next three matches across all competitions.

The 27-year-old will reportedly be unavailable for the UEFA Champions League encounter against Sporting Lisbon, as well as Super Lig fixtures against Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.

The injury will come as a major concern for Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, who will be hoping to see his leading striker return quickly as the club continues its campaign on both domestic and European fronts.
