Peter Obi has clarified that he never turned down an offer to serve as the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Obi made the clarification while appearing as a guest on Arise Television.
When asked whether he had ruled out the possibility of becoming Atiku’s running mate, the former Anambra State governor said no such proposal had ever been made to him.
“Who said that? No, nobody… There wasn’t even any party where that offer was on the table,” he said.
“Now, how do you say? You mean now? You mean this election, or are they offering it through you?
“No. I wasn’t even in a position where that was being offered and I refused.”
Obi’s statement comes amid ongoing political negotiations and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition politicians continue to consider possible alliances and coalition arrangements.
