Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State and a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has met with a prominent member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) once more, adding to the conjecture about his political future.

El-Rufai, SDP chairman Shehu Musa Gabam, and other party leaders were reportedly photographed visiting Senator Abubakar Gada’s home in Abuja, according to Daily Trust.

Senator Teslim Folarin, the APC’s 2023 candidate for governor of Oyo State, and Senator Nazif Suleiman, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Bauchi State, were also reportedly there.

The meeting at Gada’s apartment in Abuja on Sunday night follows El-Rufai’s hosting of an iftar for Ramadan at his Abuja mansion, where guests included Shehu Musa Gabam, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, a prominent member of the APC, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

El-Rufai also stopped by the SDP secretariat in Gabam.

Social media users’ reactions to the images from these excursions were mixed, with many guessing that El-Rufai will run for president in 2027.

However, El Rufai’s communications advisor, Muyiwa Adekeye, denied that the visits had any political motivations.

Adekeye emphasized that human ties may exist independently of political beliefs, calling the suspicions nothing more than an “unhealthy obsession with politics.”
