Departing Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said it is the right time for him to leave the Premier League club.
Guardiola took charge of his final game on Sunday, which ended in a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The 55-year-old has now stated that he intends to take time away from football to rest and focus on his family.
The Spaniard also expressed appreciation to Manchester City’s hierarchy for respecting his decision to step down after 10 years at the club.
Guardiola said: “It is the right time. I will not miss it for a while, that’s for sure.
“I feel deeply that the decision is the right decision for this club and the players. I thank the club for respecting it, they understood.”
During his decade-long stay at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola won six Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, three FA Cups and five League Cups.
