Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has sought forgiveness from the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, following his conduct during the last All Progressives Congress, APC, primary election in Lagos.

A video circulating on social media showed Elliot kneeling before Gbajabiamila while apologising and pleading to be welcomed back into the APC structure in Lagos.

“I’m sorry, I have no excuse. I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry, and I am hoping to be cultured in the future,” Elliot said.

The apology came after Elliot had a disagreement with the party leadership over the APC primary held in May to determine its candidate for the Surulere Constituency I seat.

Elliot had pulled out of the primary, alleging that his supporters were subjected to intimidation and political pressure during the exercise.

He subsequently rejected the result and pledged to challenge the conduct of the primary through the party’s internal appeal process.

The former actor eventually lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was widely believed to have enjoyed the support of Gbajabiamila.

Odunuga-Bakare won the primary with 11,385 votes, while Elliot recorded 270 votes.
