Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has fiercely criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its failure to attend and oversee the party’s ongoing convention.
According to ZINGTIE, the electoral body chose to boycott the convention due to the leadership crisis currently plaguing the ADC.
Speaking at the convention, Aregbesola condemned the commission, calling it an “illegal and criminal organization,” and emphasized that INEC had been duly informed of the convention’s schedule since 2025.
He further accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of fueling the turmoil within the party and appealed to international organizations for support in safeguarding Nigerian opposition parties.
As reported by ZINGTIE, the commission recently suspended its recognition of the David Mark-led faction of the ADC, sparking widespread outrage. Opposition leaders and party members have since staged protests in Abuja in response to the move.
