Speaking at the event, Osita James, managing partner of BlackCrest, emphasised the significance of networking in fostering innovation and growth within the tech sector. “Without strong networks, many startups falter at critical stages, especially when seeking funding or scaling, because of lack of practical knowledge about fundraising,” James said. He added that BlackCrest’s involvement is part of a broader mission to nurture a thriving startup ecosystem.

During a panel session, Dare Olufumilayo, founder and CEO of (link unavailable) and (link unavailable), addressed key challenges facing startups. Olufumilayo noted that many founders enter the tech space focused solely on securing investment, rather than building solutions that meet real needs. “Instead of chasing funding, startups should prioritise getting their first customers and validating their market,” Olufumilayo advised.

Titilayo Bada, Manager at Cafe One, highlighted the role of creative hubs in supporting early-stage founders. Bada stressed the importance of networking and continuous learning, saying “tech is no longer a solo journey.” She urged aspiring tech entrepreneurs to embrace these principles to succeed in the industry.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in driving growth and innovation in the tech ecosystem. By providing a platform for startups to connect with investors, experts, and peers, BlackCrest and Flutterwave aim to foster a supportive community that enables entrepreneurs to thrive
