The Edo State government revealed on Thursday that it had discovered a brothel operating within a primary school in Esan West Local Government Area.
The government also announced that the brothel has been sealed off.
This information was shared during a press briefing in Benin City by Eugene Okolosie, the State Coordinator for the Protection of Government Property (PGP).
In addition, Okolosie reported that more than 2,000 plots of land that had been encroached upon by land grabbers were recovered.
He further noted that over 150,000 houses in the state have been built on government-owned land.
“The community came to inform us that land grabbers forged their signatures and we moved into action and recovered about 90 per cent of the land back, including lands belonging to schools.
“For example in Ujuele Primary School, they built a brothel inside the school and we have sealed the brothel and some of these property will be converted and we are presently discussing with the governor on the matter,” Okolosie said.
