General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has issued a caution to residents of the South-East, urging them not to promote the activities of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), across social media platforms.

Speaking during a community interaction held in Omor, within the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Musa highlighted the dangers of sharing unverified or misleading information, emphasizing that such behavior not only puts the region at risk but also undermines peace and unity on a national scale.

Representing the CDS at the event was Group Captain Ibrahim Bukar, the Deputy Director of Defence Media Operations. The team visited the traditional ruler, Obi Eze Ana-Uku, Eze Igulube of Omor, as part of a broader community-focused initiative under the jurisdiction of Operation Udoka.

Musa emphasized that the actions of IPOB negatively impact both the South-East and the country overall, and he urged the public to refrain from supporting such groups in any capacity.

He also condemned the ongoing dissemination of misleading and divisive narratives by IPOB and other banned organizations, pointing out that achieving lasting peace and security in the area depends heavily on the involvement and support of local communities.

“People should have trust in the military, because the military belongs to them. They should always provide us with actionable information.

“When you see something, say something. It is only through such cooperation that we can effectively tackle insecurity and restore peace,” he said.

He reassured the community of the military’s impartial role in maintaining peace and order.
