Olusola Salau, the South-West Chairman of The Alternative and a PDP chieftain, has declared his intention to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement he personally signed, Salau addressed on Monday. ZINGTIE obtained the letter in the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta.
He bemoaned the recent Remo by-election’s outcome and poor voter turnout, saying, “There is nothing for Ogun State PDP. I finally made up my mind, an experienced politician like me must know that in Ogun State and the entire South-West, nothing for PDP and I’ve told all the leadership of the party, enough is enough.”
Salau stated that in order to strengthen the ruling party and contribute to improving the state, he and his supporters would be working together.
He explained that even though he is switching to the APC, he is still the chairman of The Alternative’s South-West, a nationwide opposition movement coalition that aims to restore Nigeria’s democracy and realign it toward intellectual integrity, clarity, and transparency.
The statement reads, “I want to make an official declaration that I am no more LADO, I am no longer a PDP member.
“I was the first strong mobilization expert for LADO’s House of Representatives election. I was the first with God that started LADO for Governor.
“As a political analyst, I have told my followers that we are done with PDP and we are moving in large numbers to join His Excellency Prince DAPO ABIODUN in our next political movement, and taking APC from other parties to make it stronger than we have heard about it in the past.
“I am looking forward to seriously work with the party and the Executive Governor of Ogun State.”
With preparations to attend a second meeting on Wednesday, ZINGTIE has learned that the defection arrangements are nearly final after Salau visited Biyi Adeleye, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, at his home on Mada Road in Isara Remo.
