The foundation stocked the box with approximately 500 sanitary pads to support girls in the school. Strategic Advisor of the Foundation, Munira Ladan, said, “This pilot will help us understand the impact of consistent access to menstrual products and guide our plans to scale up the initiative.” The goal is to break the silence around menstruation and provide practical solutions that empower girls
The pilot phase will run for several months, during which the foundation will monitor usage, track outcomes, and assess the effect of the intervention on school attendance and well-being. A monthly follow-up system has been established to ensure the box remains stocked and effective.
The Principal of GGSS JS expressed gratitude to the foundation, saying, “This initiative not only addresses a critical need but also empowers our girls with knowledge and dignity. We are grateful to Elkheir Healthcare Foundation for this timely and thoughtful intervention.”
If the pilot is successful, the foundation plans to expand the program to other schools across Kaduna and beyond, ensuring more girls have access to essential menstrual products and support. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Elkheir’s broader mission to build a period-friendly world.
