The wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has launched a significant initiative to support local businesses, empowering over 1,085 female traders in Dunukofia Local Government Area with N50,000 each to boost their entrepreneurial ventures.
During the program, Mrs. Soludo thanked the benefactors for their humanitarian efforts, saying, “The idea of this empowerment program is to support your business so that you can do better and support your families.” She emphasised that the value of empowerment lies not in the amount of money given but in the effort and dedication invested in growing resources and becoming successful.

Mrs. Soludo encouraged the beneficiaries to apply the funds wisely, build relationships with suppliers, and work towards financial independence. She stated, “If you apply the funds we are giving you now to your business and apply due diligence, you will excel.” She also highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts in human capital development, including the employment of teachers and health workers, digital training for youths, and the “One Youth, Two Skills” program
The Chairman of Dunukofia LG, Chijioke Ozumba, commended Governor Soludo for including Dunukofia in his development roadmap. He said the empowerment program complements the council’s projects, such as enrolling people in the state health insurance scheme and providing business support for skilled workers.
The empowerment program was sponsored by notable sons of the LG, Arthur Eze and Chief Jim Nwabueze, with support from the local government administration. Mrs. Soludo urged the beneficiaries to capitalize on the opportunities provided and work towards financial independence, stating that the long-term impact of the empowerment will take many homes out of poverty and boost the economic sustainability index of the local government and state.
