Osun Election: Davido questions presence of Ebonyi REC as poll draws closer

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has raised questions over the presence of the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Pauline Ugoyenka, in Osun State ahead of the governorship election.

Davido expressed his concern in a post on his verified X account on Thursday.

Ugoyenka, the INEC REC from Ebonyi State, was reportedly seen in Osun State ahead of the election, despite the fact that Osun is not the state to which she is officially assigned.

Reacting to her reported presence, Davido wrote, “She was not deployed by INEC. What is she doing in Osun.

“She was sent here from Governor Hope Uzodimma to rig. We will resist you, madam.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had not released any official statement regarding the development.

ZINGTIE reports that the Osun State governorship election is slated for August 15, 2026, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, seeking another term against candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, African Democratic Congress, ADC, and other political parties.
