The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum.

In a statement, the forum congratulated Makinde on his emergence, noting that the appointment reflected his consistent leadership style and commitment to democratic governance at a period of mounting pressure on democratic institutions.

The forum stated that Makinde’s leadership qualities have become increasingly visible in recent years, especially as Nigeria continues to face economic difficulties, insecurity, and wider governance challenges.

According to the statement, his vision for a better Nigeria has inspired hope among many citizens, while his position on accountability, justice, and the defence of democratic principles was also praised.

The forum further described the Oyo governor as a leader whose performance in office and dedication to national development have made him a unifying figure within the party and beyond.

It also expressed confidence that the PDP Governors’ Forum would witness renewed momentum and stronger coordination under his leadership.
