The competition consisted of two stages, starting on May 3, 2025, with the final round held on June 1. The top 10 participants received cash prizes, with Iwuoha Amblessed Nnaemeka and Ike-Umeojiaku Elvis Nzubechukwu securing second and third places, respectively.
Event coordinator Dr. Charles Nworu emphasized the importance of mathematics in national development, stating, “This competition serves as a timely and impactful intervention aimed at reigniting the passion for learning and excellence in mathematics. Mathematics is the foundation of all scientific and technological advancements.”
Despite invitations sent to 200 schools, only 14 participated in the inaugural edition. Rumexx Foundation founder Eleanya Urum Eke expressed enthusiasm for expanding future editions, saying, “We received tremendous support… and we want to aim for a bigger event, bigger prizes, and more participation next year.”
Dr. Nworu also called for policies to ensure mathematics remains a core subject for STEM-related courses, adding, “We must recruit top mathematics graduates into the workforce, offer scholarships, and establish universities dedicated to mathematical sciences.”
The Rumexx Foundation continues to drive initiatives promoting STEM education, aiming to inspire the next generation of Nigerian innovators
