A young guy named Shamsodium was detained in Lagos for organizing a protest that falsely named the late singer’s wife, Wunmi Aloba, and Nollywood actress Iyabo as suspects in the case, marking a dramatic turn of events around the continuous public interest in Mohbad’s terrible demise.
Earlier this week, Shamsodium and a few supporters marched through several districts of Lagos holding signs accusing Iyabo of being involved in Mohbad’s premature demise. Significant public and internet attention was generated by the group’s use of defaced images of the two women and inflammatory slogans.
Videos from the demonstration, which went viral on X (previously Twitter) and TikTok, showed Shamsodium asserting without proof that:
People pretending to be talent scouts enticed Shamsodium to a meeting by claiming it was a commercial arrangement. He was caught and turned over to law enforcement when he got there. In addition to confirming his arrest, the Lagos State Police Command said the demonstration was not only unlawful but also motivated by provocation and defamation.
In the Mohbad case, Iyabo Ojo has been an outspoken supporter of justice, continuously calling for openness and fair process. She has been the target of ongoing threats, internet smear operations, and now public slander despite her efforts.
Ojo poignantly described the toll the scandal has had on her personal life in a recent Instagram Live:
Numerous internet users have defended her, pointing out the ongoing mental and emotional trauma she endures, despite the fact that she has not publicly addressed Shamsodium’s allegations.
This arrest serves as a stark reminder of the negative effects of disseminating untrue information, particularly when it provokes harassment, slanders people, or thwarts legitimate investigations.
Shamsodium may be charged, according to authorities.
