Self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, BRGIE, Simon Ekpa, has expressed confidence that the sentence handed to him by a Finnish court will eventually be overturned.

Recalling that the separatist figure was sentenced to six years imprisonment by a Finnish district court on September 1, 2025, after being found guilty of terrorism-related offences connected to killings in Nigeria’s South-East region.

Speaking to a group of Biafra supporters during proceedings at his appeal hearing on Thursday, Ekpa insisted that justice had not been served.

He maintained that the authorities had imprisoned the wrong individual.

According to him, the truth surrounding the case would soon come to light.

He said, “I’m very confident that the truth is going to come out. They will know that the wrong person has been imprisoned.”
