United States President Donald Trump has warned that European nations introducing digital service taxes on American firms could face steep trade consequences.

Trump made the declaration on Friday in a post shared on his Truth Social platform.

According to the US President, several European countries are considering imposing digital taxes on technology companies based in the United States.

“Please let this statement serve to represent that any country that imposes such a tax will immediately be met with a 100% tariff on any and all Goods sent to the United States of America,” Trump wrote.

He further stated that any country implementing such a measure would face immediate trade sanctions in the form of import duties.

Trump added that the proposed tariff would take effect instantly and would override any existing trade arrangements or agreements previously established between the United States and the affected country.
