Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti explained his decision as to why he substituted Jude Bellingham during Tuesday night’s 2-2 Champions League match with Bayern Munich.

Luka Modric took Bellingham’s position in the 75th minute of the match at the Allianz Arena.

After Vinicius Jr.’s record-tying opener, Leroy Sane and Harry Kane turned things around, and the England midfielder departed the pitch with Real still looking for an equalizer.

Bellingham had made 36 appearances this season, scoring 21 goals and dishing out 10 assists. It was unfortunate to see Bellingham go, but Ancelotti said the player had been having physical issues since the hour mark.

“Jude Bellingham was not at the best level tonight, but the same for the entire team.

“Bellingham got cramps after 60 minutes, so I had to substitute him,” Ancelotti said.
