Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, has advised President Bola Tinubu to avoid any form of confrontation with his United States counterpart, Donald Trump.
Bafarawa appealed to the President to embrace dialogue as the best approach to easing the rising tension between both leaders.
His remarks came in response to Trump’s warning of a possible military intervention after reports emerged alleging widespread attacks against Christians in Nigeria.
In a personally signed statement, Bafarawa emphasized that open dialogue remains the most effective means of protecting Nigeria’s interests and preserving its long-standing diplomatic ties.
He said: “I advise President Tinubu to shun confrontation and reach out to the American government to hear Nigeria’s version of the story.
“I call on all Nigerians to join hands together with President Tinubu to succeed because his failure is our failure, and his success is our success. He needs our collective support.”
The former governor also urged Tinubu to prioritize addressing insurgency and the broader security challenges that have drawn concern from the international community.
