Four terrorists convicted over the June 5, 2022 attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, in Ondo State, have been sentenced to death by hanging.

The judgment was delivered on Wednesday by an Abuja Federal High Court presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite.

A total of 43 worshippers lost their lives during the attack.

The four convicts sentenced to death by hanging are Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, 25, Al Qasim Idris, 20, Jamiu Abdulmalik, 26, and Abdulhaleem Idris, 25.

Meanwhile, a fifth defendant, Momoh Otuho Abubakar, 47, was discharged and acquitted.

Justice Emeka Nwite found the four terrorists guilty on all nine counts filed against them and ordered that they be hanged until death.
