The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the paramount ruler of Emohua Kingdom, Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as the political force that shaped Rivers State politics.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday while recognizing the traditional ruler’s attendance at the commissioning ceremony of the Federal High Court Judges’ Quarters in Abuja.
The former Rivers State governor credited Awuse for playing a major role in his political development, noting that the monarch provided the platform that helped launch his career.
According to Wike, Awuse was among the key figures who created opportunities that enabled many politicians to attain leadership positions.
He, however, observed that the revered monarch has since stepped away from active politics to focus on his traditional responsibilities.
The minister praised Awuse’s contributions, describing him as one of the political heavyweights who influenced the direction of politics in Rivers State.
“I recognize those who laid the foundation for some of us to use as ladder to climb to where we are today.
“My dear brother, the political bulldozer of Rivers State – even though he has abandoned politics and is now a traditional ruler.
“They call him sergeant but where he got the name from, I do not know,” Wike said while referring to Awuse.
