President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he had extended the deadline for Iran because it permitted ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

During a Fox News interview on Thursday, Trump mentioned that he was considering extending the ultimatum for Iran to completely open the Strait of Hormuz, as Iran had permitted oil-carrying vessels to pass safely this week.

He claims that Iran requested a seven-day extension, but he opted to grant them 10 days instead.

“They said to me very nicely, through my people, ‘Could we have more time? Because we are talking about tomorrow night, which is pretty quick, and if they don’t do what they have to do, I will knock out their power plants.

“They asked for seven, and I said, ‘I’m going to give you 10,’ because they gave me ships,” Trump said.

He subsequently mentioned the ships as evidence that the US was in talks with the right individuals.
