New Real Madrid signing, Marc Cucurella, has insisted he had “no doubts” about completing his move to the Spanish giants following his £52m transfer from Chelsea.
Cucurella revealed that he received a phone call from new head coach Jose Mourinho before putting pen to paper on the deal.
According to him, the opportunity to join Real Madrid was one he could not turn down.
“When Madrid came I didn’t think about it, it’s a unique opportunity. Playing for Real Madrid is an honour and not many players can say it, so I had no doubts,” he told Spanish outlet El Mundo.
He further disclosed details of his conversation with Mourinho, saying the manager expressed strong belief in his ability to adapt quickly to the squad and the club’s demands.
“He told me that he really wanted to work with me, that I was going to adapt very well, that Madrid was a great club. I am looking forward to working with him.”
Cucurella is among three high-profile arrivals already confirmed at the club this summer, alongside Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, while Denzel Dumfries is also expected to join in the ongoing transfer window.
