Troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted an attempted ransom exchange in Kebbi State.

The acting spokesperson for the operation, Col. Olaniyi Osoba, confirmed the development in a statement.

According to Osoba, the military received credible intelligence indicating that a ransom exchange was being planned for a woman who had been abducted from her farm the previous month.

Acting on the information, troops quickly deployed to the location in an effort to intercept the transaction.

The suspected kidnappers reportedly opened fire after detecting the advancing troops.

Osoba said the criminals were overpowered during the confrontation and subsequently retreated, leaving the abducted woman behind.

The troops then secured the victim, who was found without injuries.

She was subsequently taken to safety and reunited with her relatives in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The acting spokesperson added that soldiers carried out a search operation along the route used by the fleeing criminals to ensure the area was safe before withdrawing to their base.

Meanwhile, troops also conducted clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area as part of efforts to maintain security across the state.

Osoba said the operations were completed without any incident.

He assured residents that Operation FANSAN YAMMA would sustain its operations against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements operating in Kebbi State.

The military spokesman also called on residents to promptly share useful information with security agencies to support efforts to prevent criminal activities and safeguard communities.
