Barcelona president Joan Laporta has backed winger Lamine Yamal to emerge as the winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Laporta maintained that the Spanish international deserves to claim the prestigious individual award ahead of other contenders.

Speaking during a recent public appearance, the Barcelona chief argued that the 19-year-old had enjoyed an outstanding campaign, highlighting his achievements with LaLiga and the World Cup.

“It’s only fair that he wins it. He’s had a great season and has won some very important titles, such as La Liga and the World Cup.

“He deserves to win the Ballon d’Or,” Laporta said, as quoted by Barca Universal.
