Following Chelsea FC’s heavy 3-0 Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night, manager Liam Rosenior admitted that four members of his squad failed to meet the required standard.
In a frank post-match interview with Chelsea TV after the loss at the Amex Stadium, Rosenior also issued a direct apology to the traveling supporters of the Blues.
He, however, acknowledged that only four players in his team delivered full commitment against the Seagulls.
Brighton’s goals were scored by Danny Welbeck, Jack Hinshelwood, and Ferdi Kadioglu, leaving Chelsea in 7th place on the league table.
“Honestly, to the fans, apologies— that wasn’t acceptable,” Rosenior said.
“I’ll defend my players when they deserve it. Three or four of them gave everything. I’m not going to name names, but three or four isn’t good enough.”
Rosenior will now aim to regroup his side ahead of their clash with Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
