Al Nassr FC have reportedly contacted Pep Guardiola over the possibility of becoming the club’s next manager.
The agent of the Spaniard reportedly confirmed that Al-Nassr made contact with the former FC Barcelona coach regarding the opportunity to manage Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates in Saudi Arabia.
Guardiola has already announced his intention to leave Manchester City FC at the end of the current season.
Josep Maria Orobitg, who has represented Guardiola for years, clarified that the approach from Al-Nassr happened before his client decided to leave Manchester City.
Reports had claimed that Al-Nassr offered nearly €130 million per season to convince Guardiola to become their head coach.
However, Orobitg dismissed the reported figure, insisting that the amount was not as high as widely claimed.
He stated to Okaz, “There was contact a month and a half ago, merely contact, without any commitment or formal offer. It is not that much money.”
Guardiola’s agent also confirmed that discussions did not progress beyond initial contact.
According to him, Al-Nassr currently have no realistic chance of securing Guardiola’s services.
“There was also contact with the Saudi Arabian Federation about 15 days ago, but there will be no further discussions for the time being. At present, neither party has a significant opportunity to sign Guardiola.”
Guardiola leaves Manchester City as the club’s most successful manager after winning 20 trophies during his ten-year spell in England.
He is also expected to continue working with City Football Group as one of its global ambassadors.
