The Benue State Police Command has apprehended 10 individuals over their alleged involvement in the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, in Benue State, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and another victim, Yakubu Isa.
The arrests were made following extensive intelligence operations and coordinated tactical raids conducted by police operatives in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026.
In a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet, the Command described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killings.
The suspects identified by the police are Titus Thyodenda, 25; Utibe Sam, 20; Owoicho Ameh, 18; Sunday Useni, 21; Sunday Ogbanje, 46; Daniel Raphael, 23; Adokole John, 24; Samuel Ogazi, 32; Agbo Daniel, 25; and Onazi James, 30.
The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, praised the efforts of the tactical teams and investigators for their prompt action and professionalism, describing the arrests as a significant development in the pursuit of justice.
The police chief assured residents that investigations are still ongoing, adding that security operatives have intensified efforts to track down other individuals believed to be connected to the killings.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to ensure that every person found culpable faces prosecution in accordance with the law.
CP Nwadiogbu also urged residents of the state to remain peaceful and continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information that could aid the investigation.
“The Benue State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining peace and security across the state,” the statement added.
The Command had earlier condemned the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Benue State Chairman of MACBAN, alongside Yakubu Isa, describing the incident as unfortunate and assuring the public that those responsible would be brought to justice.
