The Federal Commissioner, Federal Character Commission, Ebonyi State, Hon. Barr. Vincent Nwokpor, has highlighted the empowerment of more than 2,500 youths through agricultural training and financial support under the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

Nwokpor made this known in a press release issued ahead of the 2027 general elections, where he outlined what he described as some of the administration’s interventions in youth empowerment and agricultural development across Ebonyi State.

According to the press release, the beneficiaries were trained and provided with business capital ranging from N1 million to N5 million each to establish enterprises in rice farming, poultry, fisheries and piggery.

The intervention, the statement said, has placed more than N4 billion directly in the hands of Ebonyi youths to enable them establish and expand businesses.

The press release stated that the initiative was designed to combine practical training with access to capital, rather than limiting youth empowerment to skills acquisition without financial support.

“His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru did not stop at promising young Ebonyians a future in agriculture, he backed it with real training and real capital. Across multiple empowerment programmes, over 2,500 young Ebonyians have been trained and financially empowered with business capital ranging from 1 million to 5 million naira each, an intervention that has put well over 4 billion naira directly into the hands of our people to start rice farms, poultry businesses, fisheries, and piggeries.”

The release also drew attention to the ongoing revival of the Nkaliki Hatchery, describing it as a major poultry facility that had previously served the South-East before falling into disrepair.

According to the statement, the hatchery has now returned to production, with layers and broilers being raised and eggs and chickens supplied to the market.

The release further disclosed that a feed mill was under construction at the facility as part of efforts to strengthen the poultry production chain.

“That same commitment to agriculture is visible in the revival of the Nkaliki Hatchery, once one of the largest poultry farms in the entire South-East before it collapsed into near ruin. Today, that hatchery is alive again, layers and broilers back in production, eggs and chickens once again reaching the market, and a feed mill under construction to strengthen the entire value chain.”

Nwokpor said the interventions were evidence of efforts to transform youth training, agricultural infrastructure and economic opportunities into practical sources of income and employment for residents of the state.

The press release also urged Ebonyians to support the continuity of the administration’s programmes ahead of the 2027 elections.

It called on residents to support Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s re-election, arguing that the administration’s youth empowerment and agricultural initiatives had created opportunities for young people across the state.

“Ebonyi people have watched this government turn forgotten sectors and forgotten youths into sources of real income and real production. In 2027, the choice is clear: protect a system already turning training into thriving businesses and dead infrastructure into living jobs, His Excellency Nwifuru Francis deserve to be reelected.”
