The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has raised its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump price despite the recent announcement of a proposed fuel price discount.

A market check by ZINGTIE on Friday revealed that the state-owned oil company increased its petrol price from N1,370 to N1,405 per litre.

Some filling station attendants who spoke to ZINGTIE anonymously disclosed that the new price was communicated on Thursday but took effect on Friday.

The adjustment represents an increase of N35 per litre, although NNPCL has yet to provide an official explanation for the latest price change.

ZINGTIE recalls that the company had reduced its pump price to N1,370 per litre on Monday after previously raising it to N1,405 per litre.

The latest adjustment means that petrol prices at NNPCL filling stations have risen once again amid ongoing controversy over the proposed fuel discount.

On Thursday, the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, announced a proposed fixed petrol gantry price of N1,375 per litre ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
