A fire has erupted at a power generation and water desalination facility in Kuwait after an Iranian missile and drone assault, prompting authorities to shut down several electricity-generating units while emergency responders battle the blaze.

The Kuwait Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed that the incident was caused by the attack, stating that firefighting personnel and technical experts had been dispatched to extinguish the flames and begin restoration work at the damaged plant.

The strike also affected the country’s aviation sector, leading to the temporary suspension of activities at Kuwait International Airport.

Following the closure of Kuwait’s airspace, Kuwait Airways announced that most of its scheduled flights had been rescheduled due to the prevailing security concerns.

The airline advised passengers impacted by the disruption to keep track of official updates for revised flight schedules as authorities continue evaluating the full extent of the incident.
