The Zamfara State Police Command has stepped up efforts to tackle public disorder and dangerous motorcycle activities, leading to the arrest of 21 suspects and the seizure of 20 motorcycles during a special operation in Gusau Local Government Area.
The action followed repeated complaints from residents of Birnin Ruwa, Tullukawa, and Yar Gada communities concerning the activities of a group of youths popularly referred to as “Arlet Boys.”
The youths were alleged to have been involved in reckless motorcycle displays and other activities considered a threat to public peace and security within the affected communities.
Police authorities disclosed that the operation was conducted on June 7, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The coordinated raids focused on locations identified as criminal hideouts and other black spots within the communities under surveillance.
During the exercise, security operatives successfully arrested 21 individuals suspected to be linked to the disturbances.
The police also recovered 20 motorcycles allegedly used in carrying out the activities that prompted the operation.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, stated during a media briefing that investigations were ongoing while the suspects undergo screening.
He said, “The ongoing operation will be sustained to rid the affected communities of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property.”
Abubakar further assured that any suspect found guilty after investigations would face legal action in line with the provisions of the law.
