Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has advised candidates left off the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) list for the 2027 elections to reconsider further legal action and explore other political opportunities.

In a post shared on his X handle on Saturday, Sani maintained that the Supreme Court ruling that allowed INEC to exclude some candidates was clear. He cautioned those affected against spending additional money, time and energy pursuing what he described as a futile legal battle.

The former lawmaker also appealed to the lawyers representing the affected candidates, including Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), to consider their clients’ financial interests and discourage them from filing more lawsuits.

“The Supreme Court ruling that enabled INEC to exclude some names of candidates is very clear. Affected candidates should not waste their money, time and energy fighting a lost battle.

“I also wish to appeal to those Barristers and SANs to ‘pity’ those candidates and allow them to rest, and not mislead them into spending more money filing fresh suits.
